My Past Jobs

****This is from my experiences from where I live, I'm not saying that every store or restaurant is like the ones I talk about here*******

McDonalds – As this being my first job McDonald's managers didn’t take that much time reviewing my application. They basically hired me before I even turned in my app. I thought there would be nice benefits, good people, and some good training given the fact that this is a multi-billion dollar franchise. Sadly I was struck with the fact that I got paid minimum wage, the employees always seemed mad for some reason, and was offered one 15 minute break for working eight hours with only limited meals to choose from. Without any training they put me on front counter register and had the manager walk out my first day of the job.

Sonic – Sonic was a new restaurant they built in my town so I thought I would go check it out. After a week I put in my application I received a phone call for my training day. After 2 hours of movies of germs and cooking I was ready to start cooking (no pun intended). The first time I started it was a complete mess. The manager that I thought was nice was yelling and using curse words. As he kept threatening to fire me I immediately walked out and told them I quit. Buy the way; Sonic did such a bad job with its managers, employees, and complaints that at the end of 2007 it shut down.

Harlan’s (local grocery store) – This job I really like because I worked in a huge space with a lot of my friends from school. There were three managers one who I didn’t like. I worked there for a good 6 months and was well respected there for my hard work and dedication. But one of the managers (the one I didn’t like) accused me of playing around. He told me that I could not use the bathroom anymore so I clocked out and left. Later I found out that the manager was filed with three sexual harassment charges.

Dollar General – This place was decent because I didn’t have work around food. I was offered a 401K but that’s as far as it goes for the good part. As each day went by I was taught that every person that came in there was a capable of stealing. When it got real busy the other clerks did not offer to open up another register. It was just me with a huge line of angry customers waiting for me to hurry up. Being the only male that worked there I was left with all the heavy loading and stocking. After the third week they laid me off so I called in and quit.

Wal-Mart – This is by far the best job I’ve ever had. The benefits were amazing, pay was unbelievable, and the fairness and generosity of each “associate” and manager made it a really nice place to work. They put you threw 6 hours of computer training and of training movies. I never thought I would see a 20 minute video over “spills”. You can access your paystub 2 weeks before it comes out and can access your investments and 401k online. Every thing is extremely fair from the exact time you go on your break until the time you get off. If you do any work (i.e. help someone in the store) outside of your scheduled hours you get reimburse. (They pay you even if it was for five minutes).

Dairy Queen – This was the last job I had up until right now. This was place was awesome and really a nice place to work. Despite it being a fast food restaurant I was making ice cream and shakes which were really fun to make. We had little employment that really made it feel like a family. We all had each other on call and were all friends outside of the work area. I know now how to make any kind of blizzard, shakes, malt, and every other dessert. The pay was good and the hours worked around my school time.

666 Cold Preperation

As i was shopping in the HBA section at my local grocery store (Harlans) I noticed this "666 Cold Preparation" medicine. It said...

Pain reliever, Fever Reducer, Decongestant, and Cough Suppressant. I guess they forgot exorcism "for the feverishly possessed."

(The camera on my phone sucks so the picture didn't come out to well)
